Cathedral Academy

A quick insight into the making of a very short video made in a short period of time with an equally tight deadline. The result: a 20 second video with a creative concept, filmed with a cast of over 70 kids, all signed off and delivered a day before the deadline.

The client first contacted me during the Easter break and said that the school had been nominated for a prestigious award ceremony in London. The deadline was only 10 days away and he needed a short video to show off the school on the night.

We’d need to move fast, and the first step was to have a brainstorming meeting and discuss a few concepts. During the hour meeting we agreed on an idea and I went to work to file a production plan and scribbled down a rough storyboard. Costs were submitted and agreed, along with a shooting date.

We arrived on time at the school and began filming with the kids. They were great and quickly responded to my direction and we had great fun capturing the footage. We kept the client and the kids involved at every stage and he quickly realised that we would need the estimated four hours to complete the filming.

20 seconds is a very short period of time and we had to cram a lot in, and we did. As an added bonus, we also created a 30 second version for the school which gave the choir a little bit more screen time.

A great fun project that needed thinking about and one that shows off our creative input, forward thinking and expertise.

Now don't blink or else you'll miss it!
